One of Councilmember Blumenfield's top priorities has always been expanding residents' access to open spaces and improved recreational facilities in the West Valley. An upgraded Randal D. Simmons Park Children’s playground is now open for community members to enjoy. It includes new built-in shade structures, benches, and upgraded, state-of-the-art playground equipment. Blumenfield thanked Kompan North America and LA Parks for their partnership and working tirelessly to design and build the playground. Randal D. Simmons Park was named in memory of the fallen LAPD SWAT officer who was the first SWAT officer to die in the line of duty when he was killed in 2008. Watch a recap of the ribbon cutting here.
