Zhila Ross, Architect, LEED AP, serves as Councilmember Blumenfield’s Planning Deputy and manages land use and planning issues affecting the district. Prior to her work with Councilmember Blumenfield, Zhila worked as a project manager for various architectural firms and development companies in Los Angeles. As a project manager, she obtained entitlements for a variety of mixed use and multi-family projects dealing with density bonus and affordable housing. Zhila prepared many projects for compliance with specific plans or project permit compliance and successfully presented a variety of projects to Mulholland Scenic Parkway Specific Plan Design Review Board and various neighborhood council PLUM committees.
Zhila also ran her design-build firm in Santa Monica where she designed and built a variety of public and private projects and later took a few years off to raise her twin boys. She is a board member of Bundy Canyon Association and has conducted workshops for her peers and the public on Sustainable Design. Zhila received her master’s degree in Architecture and Urban Planning from University of Tehran. She is a California Licensed Architect and an Accredited Professional of Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED AP).
