VALLEY VILLAGE FUNDRAISER TO HONOR MITCHELL ENGLANDER
Valley Village, the nonprofit where adults with developmental challenges thrive, will honor City Councilmember Mitchell Englander at its fundraiser barbecue on Thursday, June 18. The event, from 6 to 9 p.m., will be at Orcutt Ranch, 23600 Roscoe Blvd., West Hills. Proceeds will go the organization’s programs and services for clients. Valley Village, founded in 1971, cares for 400 clients in 18 family-style homes and three therapeutic day programs.
“We are pleased to host the ‘Chillin’ and Grillin’ to Say “Thanks a Million” to Mitchell Englander’ BBQ,” said Executive Director Debra Donovan. “Mitch has been a good friend to Valley Village and the disabled community. He is making a difference for the West Valley and the city in many ways.”
Mitchell Englander was elected to serve as Los Angeles City Councilmember for the Twelfth District in 2011, to serve the communities of Granada Hills, Northridge, Porter Ranch, Chatsworth, North Hills, Reseda, Sherwood Forest and West Hills. In July 2013, he was unanimously voted by his peers to serve as President Pro Tempore of the City Council. He serves as Chair of the Public Safety Committee, Vice-Chair of the Budget and Finance Committee and is a member of the Planning and Land Use Management Committee, and the Executive Employee Relations Committee. He was re-elected in 2015 with 100% of the vote.
The barbecue will be in the cool of the evening at the historic ranch with its gardens, fruit orchards and tall oaks. Calabasas Custom Catering will serve up hearty barbecue fare, with Rocco’s Tavern LA providing dessert. The Sierra Highway Band will entertain. An online and a silent auction are planned.
