In light of large social gatherings such as the Reseda Rising Art Walk and Night Market not taking place due to COVID-19 safety guidelines, Councilmember Bob Blumenfield has partnered with 11:11 A Creative Collective to explore launching a Mural Festival in Reseda.
This mural festival would comply with social distancing mandates and would comprise of coordinating the painting of several walls in the district on the same timeline. The mural festival would employ the use of a digital map so residents and visitors may explore the murals once completed and learn about the art/artists while maintaining and enforcing all social distancing guidelines.
11:11 ACC would also put in place COVID-19 safety protocols for artists involved in the project to follow while painting
and being out in public. Blumenfield believes that the value of public art during this crisis cannot be underestimated as it plays a crucial role in connecting communities, humanizing the environment, and providing our neighborhoods with a unique opportunity to display their identities and voices.
More details to come.
