Councilmember Blumenfield introduced a motion designed to expand the public’s role in preparing for and fighting disasters. Blumenfield recognizes that volunteers can be a huge asset to the City during emergencies, and steps should be taken to ensure that trained volunteers and emergency supplies are available across the City. Councilmember Blumenfield is working with the Emergency Management Department to report on ways to expand private-public partnership in the LAFD’s four Operational Bureaus. Blumenfield also requested the City to report on establishing a program to place emergency supply caches in each of the City’s neighborhood council areas.
