MRCA River Patrol - $750,000

Councilmember Blumenfield recognizes that there have been safety and environmental issues along the Los Angeles River Path. Because ownership of and responsibility for the LA River is fragmented among the City, Los Angeles County, and the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, it has been challenging to find effective solutions. To cut through the bureaucracy, Blumenfield is instituting a pilot project to have the Mountains Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) provide ranger services, including education, outreach and enforcement along the River between the Canoga Park Headwaters and Lindley Avenue. This program is expected to roll out by Winter 2020-2021.
