As we hit triple digit temperatures in the West Valley, it’s imperative to take precautions and stay safe. Please hydrate, wear sunscreen, as well as light colored clothes, and try to limit electricity usage during peak hours. If residents don’t have access to air conditioning, the City has regional resources available throughout the weekend. Many City facilities including pools, libraries, and recreation centers are open and available to all. These resources call all be found at this link.

There is a new tool that maps out many of those resources called CoolSpotsLA. In addition to all the normal regional facilities, the Canoga Park Senior Center (7326 Jordan Ave., Canoga Park 91303) is also serving as a cooling center from 10am-9pm today and tomorrow.

Also, it’s very important to take care of your pets and protect them during these sorts of heat episodes. Please limit their exposure outside when the sun is out, never leave them in a car and double check they have enough water.

Thank you and please stay safe,
