Investing $800,000 into Community Organizations

Blumenfield at the Unite Cultural Center Grand Opening, one of the many recipients from the reinvestment

As part of the City Council motion to direct the appropriations of a onetime $88 million fund for community investment, Councilmember Blumenfield secured $800,000 for the designated census tracts in his district. Immediately Councilmember Blumenfield worked to identify local organizations that could best use these onetime funds to address historic inequities including youth development, job training and placement, college bound support, economic development, career development services, and services connecting individuals to sustainable living-wage careers. Although there remain systemic impediments to resolve and overcome, these funds will serve as an accelerator for breaking the cycles of inequity in the West Valley.
