Holding Vigils and Solidarity Events

Blumenfield has been a strong supporter and ally for many marginalized groups that have been tragically targeted by hate groups. Throughout his time as Councilmember, Blumenfield has hosted vigils and adjourned Council meetings to commemorate lives lost after many shootings, including but not limited to:

The 9 Black lives lost at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina (2015)

The 50 LGBTQIA lives lost at the Pulse Night Club Shooting in Orlando, Florida (2016)

The 11 Jewish lives lost at the Tree of Life Synagogue Shooting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania (2018)

The 1 Jewish life lost at the Chabad of Poway Synagogue Shooting in Poway, California (2019)

The 51 Muslim lives lost at the Christchurch Mosque Shootings in New Zealand (2019)

The 6 AAPI lives lost at the Spa Shootings in Greater Atlanta, Georgia (2021)
