Fire Station 84 Park Survey
THANK YOU
During an extensive community outreach effort in your neighborhood, I heard overwhelming support for converting the former Fire Station at the corner of Canoga Avenue and Costanso Street to a small community park or what many call a "parklet". Following this important community decision, I hosted a design charrette. This meeting allowed the community to work collaboratively with the City to mold and shape the plans for the future park and to hear and address issues and concerns. Thank you for your input during this important process.
NEXT STEPS
I want to ensure that this project is indeed in the best interest of the community, that concerns are mitigated to the fullest extent possible and most importantly that the resulting project is a safe place for kids to play. To meet these objectives, the City will conduct a full Environmental Impact Report (EIR). An EIR is study of all the factors which a land development or construction project would have on the environment in the area, including population, traffic, schools, fire protection, endangered species, archeological artifacts, and community beauty. The investigation required for this report is extensive and will take approximately 5 months. Public comment is an important aspect of this report and I urge you to participate.

To avoid any delays, I am concurrently working with the Department of Recreation and Parks on finalizing a design for the park. I would like your feedback on the proposed park design and elements. Below please find a quick online survey based off of the above drawing of the proposed layout, which includes a play area, picnic tables and benches, a fitness zone, shade structures and an 8 foot perimeter fence. Existing mature trees will be retained. I have also included a table showing the next steps and timeline goals. The deadline for feedback is April 30th.
Additionally, please feel free to contact my office via phone, email, or on my website to share your ideas and concerns. By remaining involved in this process, you can help us ensure that the park serves the community and becomes a wonderful amenity to the neighborhood. Serving you and providing the highest level of constituent service is my top priority as your City Councilmember. If I can be of help to you with any issue, please contact me and my staff at our district office at (818) 774-4330 or explore my website for information about city services we can provide.
Sincerely,
