Happy Holidays! It was wonderful to see the many community members who braved the cold weather to attend my outdoor holiday gathering/donations drive — this year it was held at the Tarzana Community and Cultural Center (Watch a recap of the event here). Check out photos here and please email [email protected] with your name and address if you’d like a copy.
Thank you to everyone who generously donated items for those in need. Your non-perishable dry or canned goods went directly to food insecure families thanks to our amazing local partner food banks- West Valley Food Pantry, Canoga Park Senior Citizen Center, and ONEgeneration Senior Enrichment Center. The donated new socks, jackets and blankets will benefit our unsheltered neighbors as my team and I continue our weekly outreach. And, like previous years, we distributed the many donated toys to local nonprofits including Guadalupe Center, Kids Cancer Connection, NEW Economics for Women, El Salvador Foundation, Nueva Vision, and Family Resource Center. There are many children for whom the gift you provided may be the only gift they receive this holiday season. Lastly, thank you for the holiday cheer you helped spread while we were together. The positive atmosphere you helped create continues to reverberate and lift our collective spirits. Watch a recap of the gift giving here.
As the holiday season continues, I know many of you are excited to celebrate with family and friends, and I strongly encourage you to get your COVID-19 booster and flu shots before gathering. Let’s keep each other safe and healthy. Thank you for doing your part and helping reduce the risk for family, friends, and everyone in the community.
Councilmember Blumenfield led the annual Jingle in the Jungle Tree Lighting Ceremony hosted by the Tarzana BID and West Valley Chamber. The West Valley is home to thousands of small businesses offering every product and service imaginable and Blumenfield encourages folks to shop local this holiday season.
Councilmember Blumenfield joined Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles, local leaders, and allies outside City Hall to celebrate Hanukkah and #ShineALight for love, justice, humanity, and community. Together, we must continue to fight the rise of Anti-Semitism, racism, and all forms of hate.
Continuing to bring joy to children and families in the West Valley, Blumenfield thanked the El Salvador Foundation for hosting Navidad en el Valle/Christmas in the Valley at Winnetka Park.
Councilmember Blumenfield stopped by the Winnetka Chamber of Commerce Holiday Toy and Care Drive and thanked all members for collecting items for the community.
