Commercial Façade Improvement Program

Commercial Façade Improvement Program - $1.5 Million

Councilmember Blumenfield secured $1.5 million and convinced the County of Los Angeles to add $500,000 to establish a Commercial Façade Improvement Program. This program is designed to revitalize Reseda’s commercial core by improving the physical appearance of businesses and commercial buildings along the main commercial corridors of Reseda and Canoga Park. This program will encourage small business growth, attract investment, and ultimately reduce vacancy rates. Funds are available to building owners and commercial tenants (with consent from property owners) that have a façade with frontage on Sherman Way, or on Reseda Boulevard between Saticoy Street and the north side of Kittridge Street. The eligible improvements include, but are not limited to: painting, window/door improvements, sign replacements, awnings, lighting, security cameras, anti-graffiti film, removal of security bars/grates, parapets, or murals. The program and implementation will last through December 2024, based on funding availability. However, monitoring and enforcement of property owners’ maintenance obligations will continue throughout the term of the loan.
