Bernard Hernandez serves as Council Deputy for Councilmember Bob Blumenfield. Bernard is a lifelong Angeleno. He has an M.A. degree in Education from National University and received a B.A. in Liberal Studies with a minor in Communications and Anthropology from California State University, Northridge (CSUN). Prior to his work in Public Service, Bernard was an educator for 10 years serving students throughout LAUSD. Bernard began his career in public service in 2022 as the Special Assistant for Los Angeles City Controller Ron Galperin. He supported the Controller’s Executive team as a utility player assisting the Executive and Scheduling staff with clerical and other duties as needed. Bernard’s professional work experience with locally elected officials and extensive knowledge of the district led him to his current role as a Council Deputy for the Councilmember. He provides assistance to constituents and provides administrative support and helps manage the daily operations at City Hall.
Bernard’s family is from El Salvador and Nicaragua. His mother has been a Dietician/Cook for over 30 years and father has been an Assembly Line Worker for over 34 years.
