Brandeis National Committee - San Fernando Valley Chapter Presents
"The Golden Years: Facing the Challenges of Aging"
A presentation by Stephanie Erickson, LCSW, specializing in geriatric social work. The first part of the presentation will focus on assisting families in beginning the often difficult discussions surrounding the issues of aging; such as, general aging, safety, housing, medical decisions, power of attorneys and wills.
The second half of the presentation will be an overview of the signs and symptoms of cognitive problems such as dementia and Alzheimer's Disease. It considers the varying degrees of cognitive disorders and the impact on decision making.
Representatives from several retirement communities and senior services will be available before and after the presentation as well as during the refreshment break.
Proceeds from this event will benefit Brandeis University's "Sustaining the Mind" Campaign which supports neurodegenerative disease research and scientific scholarships.
