As your Councilmember, I want to be your voice at City Hall.
Toward that end, I am asking you to let me know your priorities through my annual Community Budget Survey. You can find the survey here.
While serving as the Chair of the Assembly Budget Committee for the State of California, I worked hard to bring the State from deficit to surplus during crippling economic times. We were able to maintain core services, but difficult decisions had to be made and ultimately valuable programs were diminished or even cut entirely. Now that the State is in a better fiscal position, it is imperative that we collaborate with the State legislature to bring some of the budget surplus back to address the biggest issue facing our City, homelessness. I am proud that the City Council recently voted to support AB 3171, which would do just that.
I am focused on ensuring that your City government spends your tax dollars wisely, delivers services efficiently, addresses pressing issues such as public safety and homelessness, and operates with accountability and transparency.
Los Angeles continues to make progress on these fronts, but preparing the City’s annual budget involves difficult decisions among competing demands for a limited pool of funds. This survey seeks your input to assist him in making those tough decisions.
To understand the budget issues facing the City, it is helpful to have some background information on the overall City Budget. Please click here to learn more about in and outs of the budget.
As we move through budget process, hearings will be broadcast live on the City’s public access network on Channel 35 and are streamed online here beginning on April 27. Serving you and providing the highest level of constituent service is my priority as a City Councilmember. Please contact me if I can be of assistance with any question or issue.
