As part of the National Diabetes Prevention Program, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention has established the CDC Diabetes Prevention Program. Our Type 2 Diabetes Prevention Program follows CDC guidelines and is under the auspices of the Valley Jewish Community Center (VJCC). Our Lifestyle Coaches, Dr. Yvonne Grant and Cheri Neiman, will help attendees make simple lifestyle changes to improve health and reduce the risk of developing Type 2 Diabetes.

This course, presented in partnership with the Valley Jewish Community Center is designed to disseminate a lifestyle change program with people at high risk for Type 2 Diabetes. Over the course of the program attendees will learn skills necessary to make an ongoing lifestyle change in their eating habits, portion control decision making, and understanding the triggers that contribute to overeating. Attendees must be 18 years or older and at risk for Type 2 Diabetes in any or all of the following ways: overweight, inactive, and/or have a family history of Type 2 Diabetes. Additional risk factors are any or all of the following: over 45 years of age; of Asian American, Hispanic/Latino, African American, American Indian, or Pacific Islander family background; diabetes while pregnant; given birth to a baby weighing over nine pounds; and/or active less than three times a week.
